WEATHER CONDITIONS

Season phenology: average

Weather conditions:

Very late and high flood in the Anadyr valley on 21-23 June after heavy rains on 20-21 June resulted in clutch loss by Xenus cinereus, Charadrius hiaticula, Calidris temminckii. Late flood did not permit renesting, and this resulted in low density of broods in these species.

Season temperature:
Season humidity:
Date of 50% snow-cover: 1 June
Date of ice-break on rivers: 25 May
Date of final loss of snow: 8 July

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

high

Breeding conditions:

Number of voles - maximum, picas (Ochotona) - decreasing, Mustella erminea - high (main predator on waders in mountain tundra). Great Knots lost more clutches than usial from predators. Favourable weather benefited quick development of chicks and their good survival. Great Knots started breeding with previous density, Pacific Golden Plovers and Solitary Snipe decreased their numbers, but Pintail Snipe was found breeding. Reproductive success of waders was low in floodplain and average - in mountain tundra.

Summary of fauna studies:

Breeding success of waders in the Anadyr valley - low, in mountain tundra - average.
